Remarks:Part-time faculty members scheduled to work eight (8) or more class contact hours per week over a fifteen (15) week term, or the equivalent thereof for short courses and summer term, are benefits eligible. Duties and Responsibilities:Seeking a qualified individual to support our Computer Information Systems program. Reports to the Associate Dean and the Chair of Computer Information Systems of the School of Business & Information Technology. Candidate must be qualified in at least one content area:
  • Cloud computing including VMWare
  • Computer programming, including object oriented development, C++, C#, Java, ASP.NET, Python and Android
  • Cyber security, network security, information assurance
  • Network administration including CISCO Academy and Linux (industry certifications required for CISCO, i.e. current CCNA)
  • System administration including Microsoft Networking
  • Web programming including JS, HTML, CSS, PHP. Individual will be involved with creating and organizing a quality learning environment; selecting textbooks; communicating with supervisors, staff, and employers; preparing reports and correspondence; maintaining course documents; following established guidelines for maintaining attendance and grade books; meeting course objectives; working within the prescribed conditions of the CNM collective bargaining agreement and employee handbook; serving on program, school, and college committees; participating in continuous quality improvement; and performing other duties as assigned.

    General Responsibilities: An instructor is responsible for providing high quality instruction so that each student may meet course outcomes. An instructor is also responsible for working with the dean and colleagues to improve student learning experiences.

    Instructional Duties includes the following:
    1. Effectively prepare, teach, grade, and assess student learning in courses assigned.
    2. Advance the role and goals of Central New Mexico Community College.
    3. Create and model a quality learning environment to support a diverse student population including students with disabilities or special learning needs.
    4. Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with program and course outcomes.
    5. Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate.
    6. Convene classes as scheduled.
    7. Respond to student inquiries within 48 hours (business days, M-F).
    8. Provide assistance to students outside the classroom through posted office hours.
    9. Incorporate, as pedagogically appropriate, current technology in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments.
    10. Maintain student records (e.g., grades, attendance) and provide documentation for incompletes within established College timelines.
    11. Complete assigned duties, reports and other required documentation on time.
    12. Attend in-service sessions, college/school/department meetings, graduation and convocation, as required.
    13. Utilize a variety of technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and college/school/department processes (e.g., banner, My CNM, grade books, etc).
    14. Provide for the security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials and maintain safe working conditions.
    15. Abide by all college policies and regulations.
    16. Assist students with registration, advising, and graduation processes.
    17. Participate in the development and review of course and program outcomes.
    18. Update and revise curriculum to maintain currency.
    19. Instructors may be assigned other instructional responsibilities as determined by the dean.

    To ensure compliance with federal and college requirements some mandatory training must be completed for this position.
  • Minimum Requirements:
  • Doctorate or Master's Degree in teaching field

    OR

  • MBA with additional content area certifications

    OR

  • Related or out-of-field master's or doctorate degree with 18 semester/27 quarter credit hours or equivalent of courses in field beyond the introductory principles level.

    OR

    Related or out-of-field master's or doctorate degree with documentation in two or more of the following areas:
  • In-field professional certification (national, regional, or state).
  • In-field professional employment - The institution must provide a minimum of two years of documented experience from the employer.
  • Teaching excellence.
  • In-field research and publication.
  • Relevant additional training equivalent to 18 semester/27 quarter credit hours of CEU's, military training, vendor training, etc.

    OR

    Bachelor's degree in the teaching field with documentation in two or more of the following areas:
  • In-field professional certification (national, regional, or state).
  • In-field professional employment.
  • Teaching excellence.
  • In-field research and publication.
  • Relevant additional training equivalent to 18 semester/27 quarter credit hours of CEU's, military training, vendor training, etc.

    AND
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Cloud computing including VMWare
  • Computer programming, including object oriented development, C++, C#, Java, ASP.NET, Python and Android
  • Cyber security, network security, information assurance
  • Network administration including CISCO Academy and Linux (industry certifications required for CISCO, i.e. current CCNA)
  • System administration including Microsoft Networking
  • Web programming including JS, HTML, CSS, PHP

    Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a satisfactory background check.

  • Recent industry experience in related areas that may include: Cloud computing including VMWare

  • Work Schedule:Days, Evenings including Saturday as assigned based on instructional needs at multiple campuses.
